Year 7 Take on Scotland: A Week of Adventure and Resilience
The journey began in historic Edinburgh, where Mrs Gaffney surprised the group with a fascinating visit to The Real Mary King’s Close, plunging them into the city’s hidden past beneath the Royal Mile. Early the next morning, ten eager pupils rose before dawn to take on the challenge of climbing Arthur’s Seat. Reaching the 251-metre summit just in time for sunrise, they were rewarded with breathtaking views over the capital.
From there, the group travelled west to Loch Eil, diving straight into a range of outward bound activities. After an energising jog and a bracing plunge into the cold saltwater loch, the pupils settled in for their first night, ready for the challenges ahead.
The following day saw everyone pushing their limits with a thrilling Gorge Walk, followed by scrambling, rock climbing, and abseiling. Spirits remained high as everyone returned for a hearty meal and some light-hearted team games to end the day.
The final part of the adventure was an expedition around Loch Eil, tackled both on foot and by water. Pupils camped overnight, enjoyed more outdoor fun, and demonstrated remarkable determination throughout.
Staff were full of praise for our Year 7, who impressed with their energy, enthusiasm, and above all, their outstanding resilience. Their positive attitude and teamwork shone through every activity.
Well done, Year 7, we’re incredibly proud of you!
